Fall 2024 Youth Training Team

This is a 12-week program aimed at youth 12+ who want to push their climbing to the next level. It runs Saturdays from 9-11am starting September 28 and running until December 14.

We will start the program by conducting some finger and pull strength assessments to have a baseline the athletes can refer back to over the season(s). We will then begin to explore long-term training plans, for both the climbing season and off-season. The concepts of periodization and training “energy-systems” will be explored and we can get as deep into the weeds as participants would like! At the minimum we will delve into the differences between strength, endurance, power, and aerobic capacity, and how to train these different components more effectively. Climbing movement, technique, and mental tactics will be given equal training time. Finally, we will cover the essential exercises that target the antagonistic muscle group to maintain muscle balance, proper posture, and reduce the risk of elbow, shoulder, and finger injuries.

An emphasis will be placed on maintaining a safe and fun climbing environment.

Note that there are grant programs that offer financial support to kids enrolled in organized sport like our climbing programs.
